A small plane crashed in Compton on Sunday afternoon. According to an Instagram post by Compton Firefighters, first responders have launched an investigation in the area of South Oleander Avenue and West Reeve Street. A small plane crashed in Compton on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023. 2 dead, 1 critically injured in multi-vehicle crash in West Los Angeles

Two people were killed, and another was sent to a hospital in critical condition following a multi-vehicle collision in West Los Angeles. According to a Los Angeles Police Department release, the crash occurred around 6 p.m. Saturday night at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Ohio Avenue. A Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Sepulveda when it collided with a BMW i4. Three victims were in the two vehicles; the driver and the passenger of the BMW were rushed to a nearby hospital by LAFD paramedics, but they both later died due to their injuries. The driver of the Honda Civic was transported to a hospital in critical condition, authorities said. It remains unclear if drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.  Man killed after being pinned between his own car, out of control driver’s car The investigation is ongoing, and the identities of the deceased victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. “Drivers are remind...

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Sunday that defense minister Oleksii Reznikov will be replaced this week with Rustem Umerov, a Crimean Tatar lawmaker.Zelenskyy made the announcement on his official Telegram account, writing that new leadership was needed after Umerov “has gone through more than 550 days of full-scale war.”Later in his nightly address, Zelenskyy said he believes “that the Ministry needs new approaches and different formats of interaction both with the military and with society.”“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is well acquainted with this person, and Umerov does not require additional introductions. Unseasonably rainy weather pelted Lake Tahoe over Labor Day weekend during one of the region’s most popular times for tourists, and forecasters predicted a significant dip in temperatures at the beginning of the week.Near-freezing temperatures were in the forecast for Monday morning, which Mark Deutschendorf, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Reno station, said “has happened [before], but it’s still well below average.”Tourists who were planning to soak up the sun one last time before summer ends were set to wake up to temperatures near the 30s and 40s Monday morning.Nearly an inch of rain fell in Tahoe on Friday and Saturday, and the cool, cloudy weather continued on Sunday, with showers and potentially a thunderstorm expected through the night. Palou earned his fifth win of the season to lock up the title with one weekend remaining in the 17-race schedule. It is the first time in IndyCar the championship has been settled before the finale since the late Dan Wheldon won in 2005.Palou started the race with a comfortable points lead over Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Scott Dixon, the only driver mathematically eligible to challenge the Spaniard for the title.
