SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -  Primary elections for many municipal offices are happening on June 27. One of the races is for Saratoga Springs mayor. Democrat Chris Mathiesen is challenging the incumbent mayor Ron Kim in the Democratic primary.Mathiesen is no stranger to Saratoga Springs City Hall. He served as the public safety commissioner for three terms, (2012-2017). But he recently retired from his dental practice and decided to run for office again. Suspicious Overnight Fires in Troy

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Over the past month crews were hard at work building a stage behind in Troy’s Powers Park. They were surprised to find their forklift burnt out when they came to work this morning. NEWS10 spoke to neighbors across the street, who wished to remain anonymous, that called police after seeing the vehicle on fire and someone fleeing the scene. MORE NEWS from NEWS10That wasn’t the only fire Troy first responders had to deal with. According to the city’s police department, there were four separate vehicle fires in the Lansingburgh neighborhood. All of the blazes occurred between 11:30 pm and Midnight Tuesday night. New trail, preserve open for hiking in Queensbury

The town's fourth ward also contains 13 acres of land acquired recently by an organization dedicated to maintaining wilderness around Queensbury. St. Louis County confirms first case of mpox this year

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - Health officials have confirmed the first case of mpox in St. Louis County this year. The St. Louis County Department of Public Health says the patient was a St. Louis County resident and likely contracted mpox through sexual contact. The patient was not previously vaccinated against mpox either. Health officials are working to identify individuals with whom the patient may have been in contact while infectious. The county's first case comes following a spike in mpox cases in the Chicago area that were confirmed last month. Aurora woman who started fire that killed 5-year-old boy sentenced to 42 years in prison
