Frame for massive 'halo board' in place at Clippers' new arena

The Los Angeles Clippers’ new arena is on schedule to open next year, with the steel framework for its two-sided halo board now in place above the 18,000 seats.The Clippers will play their final season at Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles before moving into the Intuit Dome in nearby Inglewood for the 2024-25 NBA season.Construction workers stretch before working as members of the media tour the Los Angeles Clippers' Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif., Thursday, June 22, 2023. Pedestrian-Auto Collision near Clayton Road Left 38-Year-Old Pleasant Hill Woman DeadCONCORD, CA (June 23, 2023) – A pedestrian crash on Highway 242 near Concord claimed the life of Aniesha Dotson.Contra Costa CHP Officers responded to the incident around 11:30 p.m. along southbound 242, south of Clayton Road.According to the police, a southbound Lexus IS-250 hit a woman that happened to be in the traffic lanes of the freeway.Unfortunately, the female pedestrian sustained major injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, a passenger inside the Lexus received minor injuries.Later, the Contra Costa County coroner’s office identified the deceased woman as 38-year-old Aniesha Dotson of Pleasant Hill. It’s now clear that our decades-long love affair with pesticides is contributing to the worldwide collapse of bee colonies, with ramifications for all plants and animals — including us — that depend on these mighty pollinators. So a law that kicks in Jan. 1 will prevent California farmers from using a category of pesticides known as neonics, which have been particularly linked to bee harm, at times when the insects are most likely to be foraging for food.But while recent research increasingly links neonics both to broader ecosystem problems and to serious health conditions in humans, the new state regulations focus only on protections for bees.There also are no rules, so far, limiting the use of neonics on ornamental plants or grass around California homes, businesses or parks, or in products such as pet flea medicines. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- An arrest has been made in a fatal shooting near the Powell Street BART Station on Thursday night, according to the San Francisco Police Department.This is a breaking news update. Original story follows below. A person was fatally shot near the Powell Street BART station Tuesday night, the San Francisco Police Department confirmed. SFPD responded to the area of Powell Street and Market Street at about 8:39 p.m. They arrived to find a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim died at a local hospital. The Powell Street Cable Car Union Square entrance of the BART station closed due to police activity. Video obtained by KRON4 shows a heavy police presence at the station. Support grows for Moneyball Act in Oakland

(KRON) -- There is growing support for the Moneyball Act, an act that would make the owners of professional baseball teams who relocate their teams pay up for leaving their hometowns behind.This comes as the Oakland A’s are trying to move to Las Vegas, and that effort is growing closer to reality.
