HOUSTON (AP) — Jalen Green scored 23 and Fred VanVleet added 22 points and 11 assists as the Houston Rockets earned their first win of the season, 128-119 over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night.The Rockets, who dropped their first three games, led by 18 points in the first half before letting the Hornets get back in it. Man arrested after deadly North County fire

VISTA, Calif. -- A man suspected of arson was arrested last Friday after a deadly fire in the Vista area, authorities said.Gregory Triana Villegas, 50, faces two charges, including one count of murder and one count of arson, Lt. Joseph Jarjura with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said in a news release Wednesday. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.The fire occurred around 8 p.m. in the 100 block of Palmyra Drive. Firefighters began evacuations of the residence occupied by multiple people, when they learned one of the residents was missing, according to authorities. However, they were unable to locate the resident inside the home due to the flames and heat. SAN DIEGO -- Court proceedings were suspended Wednesday for the man who police say barricaded himself inside a hotel in the Del Cerro neighborhood, where a woman's body was found and a police K-9 was stabbed.Twenty-eight-year-old Owerrie Davon Bacon Jr. of San Bernardino is accused of instigating a police standoff after refusing to pay his bill and arguing with the manager at Days Inn by Wyndham Mission Valley. San Diego police said the man then went back to his room and barricaded himself.Bacon was set to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon, but his attorney first tried to continue the arraignment. A man who was reportedly armed with a machete was shot outside Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas on Wednesday night.The shooting happened shortly before 8 p.m. at the popular restaurant and bar located at 23527 Calabasas Rd. in the historic Old Town area.Officers first responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon when the suspect was allegedly seen wielding a machete that was dropped outside a McDonald's on Mulholland Drive and Avenue San Luis.Witnesses said police were chasing the suspect on foot when he ran inside the cantina as diners were still inside.
