(NEXSTAR) – Facebook users (and ex-Facebook users) have one month left to claim their piece of a massive $725 million class action lawsuit settlement announced earlier this year.Facebook parent company Meta recently agreed to pay the sum to settle claims it allowed people’s personal data to be shared with third parties. The most famous third party to get access was Cambridge Analytica, a consulting firm that supported Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.  Facebook’s $725M settlement is huge, but how much will you actually get? Meta agreed to the payout, but denies any wrongdoing.The deadline to file a claim is Aug. 25, 2023. If you file a claim by mail, it has to be postmarked by that date. CHICAGO — There are many who could call Tuesday "Sweetness Day" in Chicago since it is the birthday of one of the greatest professional athletes in the history of the city.Walter Payton was born 69 years ago Tuesday on July 25, 1954, in Columbia, Mississippi to parents Peter and Alyne Payton. He was one of three children for the couple, the first 21 years of his life in that state before moving to Chicago to build his incredible career in the National Football League. Selected fifth overall by the Bears in the 1975 NFL Draft, Payton would grow into the best player in the history of the Bears' franchise. (NEWS10) -- The Warren County Office of Emergency Services has scheduled a second "Citizens Preparedness Corps" training session for Thursday, August 17, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The training will be held at the Warren County Sheriff's Office training room, at 1400 Route 9 in Queensbury. The heat wave wilting much of the nation will hit metro Denver and most of Colorado again Tuesday, bringing sizzling temperatures under sunny blue skies — with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms but only light, brief rain, according to the National Weather Service.The high temperature in Denver will be 99 degrees, decreasing at night to 66 degrees, weather service forecasters said. Portion of Santa Monica bluffs in danger of falling onto PCH

Santa Monica officials are preparing to have a crumbling portion of the bluffs above Pacific Coast Highway removed.The crack in the cliff was noticed by residents, including Suzzane Yankovic, wife of musician "Weird Al" Yankovic.A portion of the Santa Monica bluffs that appears to be in danger of collapsing is seen on July 25, 2023. Double fatal shooting at beach overlook believed to be a targeted attack

Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are working to piece together clues in the fatal shooting of a man and a woman inside a vehicle parked at scenic overlook in Ranchos Palos Verdes early Monday.  According to an LASD bulletin, the incident was reported around 6:30 a.m. in the 7000 block of Palos Verdes Drive. It was a hiker who reportedly made the gruesome discovery and called 911.  The victims, both believed to be in their 30s, were found in a bullet-riddled Subaru in the parking lot of Pelican Cove Park, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean.  The male victim’s neighbors and friends who went to pay their respects at the scene identified him as Jorge Ramos of Willowbrook.  Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting as a targeted attack.  Jorge Ramos was identified by friends and neighbors as the male victim found shot to death inside a car in Ranchos Palos Verdes July 24, 2023. “I’m shocked and saddened that happened,” a...

Police search home of 2 L.A. city officials in connection with leaked audio investigation

The Los Angeles Police Department searched the home of two more city employees in connection with the investigation into leaked audio recordings that led to resignations and turmoil at Los Angeles City Hall. According to the Los Angeles Times, authorities in Eagle Rock searched the Home of Santos Leon and Karla Vasquez, seizing computers from their property. Both Leon and Vasquez, who are married, worked for the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor when the recordings were made. Neither has been publicly named a a suspect in the case. The four Los Angeles City officials heard in the leaked recording are Nury Martinez, Ron Herrera, Gil Cedillo and Kevin de León. A man has been terrorizing residents of an east Hollywood apartment building and creeping around the complex naked. Fearful residents in the complex say the man keeps breaking in, walking around naked, and disturbing their peace. “He’s been trying to break into apartments,” said 27-year-old resident Vanessa Salguero. “He was walking around naked one night, just full on naked. I wasn’t able to sleep the last week or so.
