Arvada's water, sewer rates will rise 12% next year

DENVER (KDVR) — Arvada utility customers will see a 12% increase to their water and sewer rates in 2024, thanks to a city council vote on Oct. 16 approving the increase.Additionally, city council members approved raising stormwater rates by 5% and raising the fixed bi-monthly service fees for water and sewer by $4 and $2, respectively.The new rates will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2024, and are estimated to raise a typical single-family household's costs by $22 per bi-monthly bill, or $11 per month.According to the city council resolution, the increased revenue will support infrastructure projects to update aging systems. Search underway for missing 70-year-old diver near Haulover Inlet

Crews are searching for a missing diver near the Haulover Inlet area in Northeast Miami-Dade.On Wednesday, crews were dispatched to the location about 3 miles south of Haulover Inlet at around 4:10 p.m.The missing diver was identified as 70-year-old Nicholas Leonard Weigner. He was last seen wearing a black wetsuit with a silver tank.The U.S. Cost Guard said Weigner is an experienced diver and was reported missing from a recreational vessel.He stands at 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 200 pounds, has brown eyes and gray hair.Anyone with information about this missing person should contact Detective O. Instead, Mason Harvey was hospitalized for two months as he was diagnosed and subsequently treated for Crohn’s disease, an inflammatory bowel disease marked by chronic inflammation in the digestive system.Prior to his hospital stay, a blood test showed that Mason had low levels of hemoglobin — the protein found in red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body. He weighed about 45 pounds, much lower than the 60 to 120 pounds that is typical for an 11-year-old boy.Mason was diagnosed nine days into his hospital stay, but before he could be sent home, doctors wanted to ensure he was in stable condition.
