(AP) — Jurors began deliberations Friday in the case of a Colorado police officer who prosecutors say is guilty of manslaughter after stopping Elijah McClain as he walked home from the store and then abandoning the 23-year-old Black man after putting him in a neck hold.Aurora Officer Nathan Woodyard is among three officers and two paramedics charged in the death of McClain after protests over the 2020 killing of George Floyd renewed interest in the case. DENVER (KDVR) -- An early morning car crash closed all lanes of eastbound Interstate 70 near Routt Street.On Friday at 2:30 a.m., two vehicles were involved in a crash on I-70 with one male taken to the hospital with serious bodily injuries, according to the Wheat Ridge Police Department. 1 dead in Brighton construction site crash

DENVER (KDVR) -- The Brighton Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred at a construction site on Friday morning.The department reported that a worker was operating a dump truck near East 114th Avenue and Primrose Circle at approximately 9:30 a.m. The dump truck was traveling slowly in reverse and ran over another worker. I-70 reopens after serious car crash The victim has not been identified, pending identification by the Adams County coroner. Brighton Police said the 65-year-old male victim was unresponsive when officers arrived and was later pronounced dead on scene.The truck driver was identified as a 46-year-old male who was uninjured, cooperative and showed no signs of impairment. He was arrested for careless driving causing death.Brighton Police's investigation is ongoing.

DENVER (KDVR) -- Adams County Sheriff's deputies responded to a house fire in Bennett Friday morning and were able to help a sleeping resident safely exit the burning home.The fire was located in the 300 block of Sixth Street. Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue also responded to the scene and suppressed the flames. Two years after a roof collapse caused students and teachers to scramble for safety, there is now a new sense of school spirit as construction on a multimillion-dollar building begins.James S. Rickards Middle School students are still learning in portables, but school leaders are constructing a plan to get them back into a building.A groundbreaking ceremony for a new middle school building took place and Broward County Public Schools held a ceremony for the James S. Investigation underway in Sharon after victim of apparent homicide discovered at home

Authorities are investigating the death of a 62-year-old Sharon man as an apparent homicide after his body was discovered at a house, officials said.The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office said resident Brad Larson was discovered at his home yesterday by a relative around 4:22 p.m. on Thursday.According to the DA’s office, the 62-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency crews arrived at 78 Deerfield Rd. shortly afterwards.“There will be obvious police activity in the area around that home through much of the day today,” Sharon Chief of Police Stephen Coffey said Friday. “Neighbors should be assured that, given what we know at this time, there is no ongoing threat to the neighborhood or the town related to this incident.”In a news release, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey stated that no arrests had been made as of Friday morning, and that an autopsy would be performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.A neighbor told 7NEWS it was the v...
