Kyle Garlick hit an RBI double in the ninth inning, bringing in what proved to be a crucial insurance run as the St. Paul Saints just barely held on for a 6-5 victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers Thursday night at Werner Park in Papillion, Neb.The Storm Chasers (43-36), trailing 6-2 in the bottom of the ninth, scored three runs off Patrick Murphy before he was able to strike out Nate Eaton to end the game. Nine animals discovered dead in animal neglect case

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Troy resident was arrested and charged with neglecting his animals after police discovered nine dead animals at his residence. Tyler J. Valentine, 29, is facing nine counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! Investigations began when a resident at the Hudson Terrace Apartments on Stow Ave reported a foul smell from a nearby apartment. A Troy Animal Control Officer, Troy Police, and representatives from the Troy Code Enforcement entered the apartment. They discovered nine animals deceased and at least one other animal alive but in terrible health.Police report three dogs, four cats, one ferret, and one bearded dragon were deceased. Valentine was processed and released with an appearance ticket for Troy City Court at a later date for arraignment.

The student advisory committee for the Lake George Central School District has announced four finalists for the district's new nickname. Man suffers life-threatening cuts to face in San Bernardino County attack

A man in San Bernardino County who was attacked Tuesday suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital, authorities announced this week. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies from the Colorado River Station responded to reports of a man sitting on the curb and bleeding profusely at around 11:15 a.m., according to an SBSD news release.  When deputies contacted the unidentified man, they discovered that he had been attacked and sustained severe lacerations to his face, hands and arms. Medical personnel treated the victim at the scene before he was flown to the hospital for treatment.  It is unclear what led to the attack or what type of weapon was used against the victim, but authorities said the suspect had already fled the scene by the time deputies arrived.  The case remains under investigation and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Deputy L. DENVER (KDVR) -- Calling all those who dig the ink -- the Tattoo Arts Festival is this weekend at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver.The event is being put on by Villian Arts and will showcase a plethora of Paramount's "Ink Master" stars and other special guests. There will also be several local tattoo artists with displays at the three-day festival. 5 Denver bars where you can watch the Women’s World Cup In addition to the showcasing of tattoo artists, there will be performances by Ringling Brothers star James Maltman, America's Got Talent stars Captain and Maybelle and other scheduled shows. There will be a tattoo contest and several seminars, according to the event website. The festival begins Friday, July 21 and ends Sunday, July 23. Admission is $23 per day or $45 for a three-day pass. Kids under 12 are free.
