Missing Mission Peak pole recovered

(KRON) -- The top section of a popular pole atop Mission Peak in the East Bay that was sawed off and taken has been recovered, the East Bay Regional Parks District confirmed Monday evening. Part of the pole had been sawed off in what the parks service called an act of vandalism. The pole, which is a well-known spot for people to take pictures at, was cut off. Any vandalism from destruction to graffiti affects what should be a positive, happy experience for community members to enjoy open space and the many trails in our regional parks."

(AP) — Shohei Ohtani’s agent says the Los Angeles Angels’ two-way superstar is determined to continue his career as both a pitcher and a hitter after he recovers from his latest elbow injury.Nez Balelo said Monday that he thinks it’s “inevitable” that Ohtani will need some sort of procedure to heal the ligament tear in his pitching elbow, but they’re still gathering opinions on whether that procedure should be Tommy John surgery or a nonsurgical remedy. Balelo says the tear is in a different part of the ligament than the spot that was surgically repaired in late 2018 and is still strong.Balelo said Ohtani will continue playing as the Angels’ designated hitter for the foreseeable future this season. I-70 reopened after multi-vehicle crash

DENVER (KDVR) -- Eastbound Interstate 70 was closed near Eisenhower Tunnel Monday due to a crash involving multiple vehicles, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.CDOT said the road was closed for safety concerns between Exit 205 and Exit 216. Crews contain wildfire in Jefferson County According to the Colorado State Patrol out of Golden, the closure was due to a multi-vehicle crash at mile marker 216.CSP said there was a serious bodily injury in the crash and at least two people were taken to the hospital, but did not specify further details. CSP said some traffic was getting through on U.S. Route 6.The crash scene extended down the hill from I-70 where a fifth-wheel trailer rolled.I-70 was re-opened around 7:34 p.m., according to CSP.

Family seeking answers after motorcyclist hit in alleged hit-and-run

DENVER (KDVR) -- A family from Thornton is asking for help finding the driver they believe struck their loved one on a motorcycle in a hit-and-run crash on Saturday. His family said Angel Soto, 56, was seriously hurt but is expected to survive. Dozens displaced after fire damages multiple buildings in Dorchester

More than thirty-five people were displaced Monday after a fire broke out in Dorchester, drawing a large emergency response and ultimately impacting five buildings. The Boston Fire Department said crews were first called to 37 Holiday St. where flames burned through the back of a house and extended to a building next door on Monday afternoon.On the department’s Twitter account, officials said several rear porches in the back of the home at 37 Holiday Street collapsed as a result of the fire.Authorities also shared photos from the scene, including an image of crews spraying down the back of the house, which appeared to be burnt out with remnants of the porches and back wall visible.At least 15 ladder trucks were spotted on scene at one point during the emergency response.In an update just before 4:15 p.m., the Boston Fire Department said the fire was knocked down.Later speaking with reporters, fire officials said two buildings were considered total losses as a result of th...

An investigation got underway in Bourne Monday after a person was hit and killed by a train, police said. Bourne police in a statement said the collision happened in the area of Aptucxet Trading Post and Perry Avenue. Police said officers were investigating the incident as of around 7:45 p.m. and asked community members to avoid the area.Video from the scene showed numerous emergency vehicles and a train stopped in the area.No further information was immediately available.
