APD seeking public's help finding person accused of hitting man with vehicle

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department is seeking the public's help in finding a person who it says is responsible for hitting a man with a vehicle in south Austin over the weekend.Shortly before 12:30 a.m., Aug. 27, a man was walking his two dogs westbound in the 3400 block of Paisano Trail, when a vehicle driver him him, APD said. Police said the driver did not stop to help the man and drove away.The man suffered from a severe, life-threatening injury, according to the department. He was taken to a local hospital and remained in critical condition as of Wednesday. Police obtained video of the incident, but noted it's difficult to make out. The person of interest was driving a vehicle described as a four-door Sedan, possibly gold or beige in color, according to police.Anyone with any information may submit a tip anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling (512) 472-8477.

Six finalists have been named for the city administrator job in Oak Park Heights.Twenty-six people applied for the position, which is held by Eric Johnson. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - As Missouri's judicial system hits a huge milestone with court records being available online, a top state lawmaker recommends people check to see if their private information has been posted.A FOX Files investigation found numerous court filings that included people's Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and dates of birth available on Casenet, a web-based search portal operated by the state and available for the public to view real-time information regarding court cases.Among the filings that included people's private information was Dawn, a Missouri resident, whose last name FOX 2 has decided not to release."This paperwork was just filed a couple of weeks ago," Dawn said. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A frightening rollover hit-and-run crash on Interstate 55 has been solved, according to police and prosecutors, with the help of the suspect’s own in-vehicle cameras. Court records reveal the trail of evidence begins with video of the suspect stumbling into his car before the crash.Two crashes were reported on Dec. 2, 2022, at about 9 p.m. A Tesla driver on I-55 near Lindbergh reportedly struck an SUV and drove away. A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the Tesla then hit another SUV, causing that vehicle to roll over.A crash report, released immediately after the crashes, lists the Tesla driver as “unknown.” Court records say witnesses “observed a white male suspect emerge from the driver’s seat and limp away.”No one knew it yet, but the suspect’s Tesla had already recorded everything investigators needed to make an arrest.
