By Erika MathieuSunny South NewsThe swearing in of Lethbridge County’s Reeve and Deputy Reeve took place following the election of Tory Campbell as Reeve, and John Kuerbis as Deputy Reeve.During the Oct. 19 Organizational Meeting, Council re-elected Tory Campbell, of Division 2, as County Reeve, and John Kuerbis of Division 4 as Deputy Reeve. By Garrett SimmonsSunny South NewsIt was an up-and-down weekend for the Coaldale Copperheads, as the team emerged with a 1-1 record in Heritage Junior Hockey League action.It all started Friday with a 4-1 loss to the Okotoks Bisons and culminated with a massive 9-0 win on Saturday against the Red Deer Vipers.Friday’s loss saw Coaldale rack up 36 penalty minutes, as Okotoks took full advantage of the powerplay. The Bisons went 3/8 with the man advantage, while the Copperheads failed to score on six powerplay opportunities.Okotoks scored three powerplay goals in the first period alone and went into cruise control from there. ST. LOUIS - A St. Louis man admitted to selling hundreds of fake temp tags and other counterfeit items Thursday during a federal court hearing. Mario Cooks, 35, pleaded guilty to three felony counts of fraudulent transfer of an authentication feature. He also admitted to producing 27 fake insurance ID cards and an undisclosed number of fake dealer license plates. Multiple people reported dead, injured in Maine shootings According to his indictment, Cooks sold fake temporary tags for $60 each and the fake dealer plates for $650 each. Investigators say he regularly manufactured these items until an undercover bust. In June 2022, the St. Charles Police Department received a tip that Cooks was selling fake temporary tags and dealer license plates. Around that time, an undercover officer arranged to buy a counterfeit temp tag for $60. More transactions followed, and Cooks sold the officer two more counterfeit temp tags and two counterfeit motor vehicle insurance ID cards.
