AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two Longhorns earned Big 12 Conference basketball honors with their play last week, the conference announced Monday.On the men's side, guard Max Abmas earned the league's Newcomer of the Week award with his performance against Louisiana State. As part of The Halal Guys Showcase in Houston, Abmas led the Longhorns to a 96-85 win with 20 points, seven assists and six rebounds in 35 minutes on the floor. He shot 6 of 13 from the field including a 4-for-9 performance from 3-point range. Texas Longhorns flip nation’s No. 2 safety recruit Xavier Filsaime from Florida Gators Abmas leads the team in scoring this year, averaging 17.8 points per game and he's shooting 41.1% from 3-point range. HILLSBORO, Mo. – Days after a vandal destroyed a Christmas display at a preservation area in House Springs, authorities in Jefferson County have made an arrest.Lucas Clayton was arrested on Sunday, Dec. 17. On Monday, the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Clayton with first-degree property damage. He remains jailed on a $10,000 bond. Clayton is accused of ruining the light display at House Springs Park. MADISON COUNTY, Ill. - A St. Louis woman, already in jail for an armed robbery at a Best Buy store, is facing new charges for burglary and car theft. CREVE COEUR, Mo. – Five synagogues in the St. Louis area received bomb threats on Sunday morning. Five wolves dashed out of crates and into the Colorado landscape on Monday, culminating three years of work to implement a first-of-its-kind reintroduction of the controversial predator to the state.Colorado wildlife officials captured the wolves in Oregon and flew them to Colorado for release in Grand County, Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced Monday evening. LANCASTER, Calif. - Like many young boys, Gor Adamyan loved toy trucks, stuffed animals and, of course, his family. Now, that family is preparing to say goodbye while the two people accused of murdering Gor in a senseless road rage case sit in jail.Authorities say Gor, 4, was seated in the backseat of his family’s car as they drove in the area of Sierra Highway and East Avenue J in Lancaster around 7:30 p.m. on Friday on their way to pick up groceries.Another driver first cut them off, then proceeded to chase the family through city streets, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.The driver eventually pulled up next to the Adamyan’s vehicle and began shooting, striking Gor in the upper torso, authorities said. Los Angeles police have rescued a minor who was the victim of human trafficking and made six arrests as part of a prostitution crackdown, authorities announced Monday. Between Dec. 10-16, undercover vice officers with the Los Angeles Police Department conducted surveillance operations along the busy Figueroa Corridor “targeting lewd conduct, prostitution, and human trafficking activities,” according to a LAPD news release. The ongoing effort, police said, is to prevent the trafficking of women and minors in the area. Over the six-day operation, officers spotted numerous people approaching and soliciting women for sexual services, with many of the exchanges and services happening in public near residential neighborhoods where families and children were present, police said.
