DENVER (KDVR) -- The Summit County Sheriff's Office and other local law enforcement responded to an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the Summit Cove neighborhood in Dillon Sunday morning.The shooting happened around Idlewild Drive at Summit Drive at approximately 7:20 a.m.Officers were called to reports of an armed subject wandering the neighborhood waving a firearm and banging on residents' doors.Deputies and officers acted to contain the situation and de-escalate it.However, the individual allegedly failed to comply with verbal commands and pointed a handgun at a deputy and officer.They were subsequently shot by both the deputy and officer, according to SCSO. Both immediately rendered aid to the subject until medics arrived. However, they were pronounced dead on scene, SCSO said.The identities of those involved were not released by SCSO. DENVER (KDVR) - A local 10-year-old amputee is defying odds and breaking records as a track star and now she's about to compete at the national level.Just last year, Carmen Wilkey started running track and now she's heading to Alabama to compete nationally."In her first year, she actually set three national records of her age group, classification and gender,” her father, Michael Wilkey, said. Carmen was born without her left fibula, outside metatarsal and pinky toe, which led to an amputation as a baby. Quick hailstorm causes damage in Littleton Carmen recently competed in the Endeavor games in Oklahoma and qualified in every event. Monday they’re off to Homewood Alabama for nationals. A man was transported to the hospital after an overnight altercation in Northwest Miami-Dade.Miami-Dade Police and Fire Rescue units responded to the scene along the 10000 block of Northwest 22nd Avenue following reports of gunfire, just before 4 a.m., Sunday.7News cameras captured a man apparently suffering from a gunshot wound.The man was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital in unknown condition. 7News reached out to Miami-Dade Police, but they have yet to release more details on the incident and the man’s condition.Miami Police search for 2 sisters reported missing from downtown area

The Cape man who suffered traumatic injuries to his leg and hand from a fireworks explosion is now facing criminal charges for having fireworks in Massachusetts.On the Fourth of July, West Yarmouth man Phat Truong sustained serious injuries from exploding mortar style fireworks in his yard.
