Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 21:39:39 GMT

SEATTLE (AP) — Nick Sirianni isn’t yet feeling a growing anxiety or concern about what’s happened the past two weeks with Philadelphia.Pete Carroll seems to be feeling every bit of the worry about what’s happened with Seattle. The two slumping teams will meet on Monday night, each trying to snap losing streaks and where a win could dramatically alter how the final three weeks of the regular season are viewed.“We’re not hitting a panic button as far as, ‘we’ve got to do everything.’ We didn’t play well and we didn’t coach good the last two weeks,” Sirianni said with the Eagles having lost two straight. “We didn’t play good enough and we didn’t coach good enough the last two weeks to win the games. It wasn’t up to our standard, so we’re pissed and we’re looking for ways to fix that.”The Eagles (10-3) are no longer alone atop the NFC East after last week’s loss to Dallas. They no longer have the inside track at the No. 1 seed in the NFC after losing to San Francisco two weeks ago and th...

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals have been reasonably competent since quarterback Kyler Murray returned last month. They’ll need a lot more than competence when they host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The NFC West-leading Niners have looked like the league’s best team during their current five-game winning streak. San Francisco clinched its third straight playoff berth last week and can clinch its first division title since 2019 with a win this weekend.“When you watch the tape, all three phases jump out to you,” first-year Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said. “They’ve got good players, they’re well coached and they win games so that’s what everybody in the NFL is trying to do.”Aside from a midseason three-week swoon when some key players were hurt, San Francisco has delivered. Its current streak includes victories over Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Seattle, Philadelphia and Seattle again. All of those teams are still in the playoff hunt. The Cardinals hav...

Johnston: Homeless hotels a long-term investment for taxpayers

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 21:39:39 GMT

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver Mayor Mike Johnston is hopeful the city can reach his goal of housing 1,000 people by the end of the year. But he's already looking ahead to 2024, saying the goal will reset once it's hit.Johnston shared his thoughts on this issue on "Colorado Point of View" this week."If we get to 999, it doesn't mean we lose. If we get to 1,001, it doesn't mean we win. There'll still be folks that are homeless after Dec. 31, but what we hope we do is we set a real path for what's possible."A big part of the mayor’s so-called House1000 initiative is transitional housing, like hotels and micro-communities. Johnston said no one has gone back to the streets after entering the transitional housing."We're working to be much faster and more efficient at connecting them to that (permanent) housing," Johnston said.Denver micro-community under construction at 2301 S. Revere public school officials recently warned parents and cleaned classrooms after bed bug bites were found on students at three local schools. Revere Public Schools Superintendent Dianne Kelly addressed the situation in a statement Thursday, saying three students were found to have bites that they received at home. “Since the students attend different schools and live in different areas of the city, we felt it wise to warn all parents that we were seeing this issue so they could be cautious themselves,” Kelly said.“Out of an abundance of caution, we deep cleaned the rooms these three kids were in as well as adjacent rooms to ensure bugs were not in the schools,” Kelly continued.Revere schools Assistant Superintendent Richard Gallucci separately discussed the bites in a letter to school staff, parents, guardians and caretakers on Wednesday. Gallucci said the incidents involving bed bugs or bed bug bites happened over the past two weeks. In each case, Gallucci said, s...
