BRUNSWICK, Mo – Electrofishing is an illegal method for everyday people; it is poaching. But when a government agency employs this tool, it's typically for the purpose of harvesting an invasive species. The Missouri Department of Conservation reported that approximately 38,700 pounds of carp were removed from the Grand River using electrofishing during two periods: from September 11 to 14 and then again from September 25 to 28. They shocked the fish using poles and scooped up the fish using nets. Electrofishing involves a generator powering an electrofishing boat. The generated power is channeled into the "booms," which are the poles at the front of the boat in the water. The electric field doesn't kill fish, but it temporarily stuns fish swimming within 6 to 8 feet of the booms. Invasive carp, known for their rapid growth, consume resources essential for the survival of native fish. Although these efforts may not entirely eradicate carp from the rivers, they significantly red...What to know in St. Louis ahead of Saturday's partial eclipse

ST. LOUIS - A rare phenomenon is primed for the skies on Saturday. The “ring of fire” solar eclipse is coming soon, and St. Louis is within the path to experience a partial eclipse. During a solar eclipse, the moon briefly obscures the sun, casting cities into a temporary, eerie twilight. When in totality, the eclipse leads to a unique circle of light with darkness in the middle. This upcoming annular solar eclipse, however, is slightly different from the last solar eclipse in August 2017. It occurs while the moon is at its farthest point from Earth, and it does not fully block the sun, leaving a portion of the sun visible behind it.The Path of The EclipseTens of millions will have a chance to see the eclipse around the United States, but the path of totality only runs through a small handful of states. The Four Corner States (Arizona, Colorado, New Mexcio and Utah) are set for the best experience. Parts of Nevada, Oregon and Texas are also expected for totality.
